Float Like a Butterfly…

Finally!  I have found and purchased a 1979 Johnson Stinger 75 hp outboard motor!  Yay for me!  I have been looking for one of these for a very long time.  These motors are highly coveted and hard to find.  I bought this motor on eBay this week from a guy in North Carolina.  He’s going to build a crate for it and ship it to me and I should have it in a couple weeks.  It looks to be a strong running motor and in great shape, as can be seen from the video.  This is going to be the motor for my 1948 Speed Liner, which will surely make it scream.  Now I just need to find a trailer for that boat.

hanslakehoustonWhen we were at the Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival in Florida back in March there were a number of Glasspar G-3’s like mine and several of them had these motors on them.  They’re very cool and were often used on racing boats.  Even though it is not really vintage-appropriate for a post-war era classic, I think it will look awesome on my boat.  The motor comes complete with the tilt and trim and controls.  A little servicing and a new impeller and we should be good to go.
